  • Tap - Visual Music

A master teacher, artistic director and choreographer of Manhattan Tap, one of the leading tap ensembles active in New York for many years. Ms. Cornell has been credited with pioneering a new style of tap choreography for the concert stage. She has been featured in shows with many of her mentors: Charles 'Cookie' Cook, James 'Buster' Brown, Chuck Green and Eddie Brown ? and has also worked with Jimmy Slyde, Charles 'Honi' Coles and Gregory Hines among many others. She will expand your view of tap dancing. The performances by Ms. Cornell are visual music, as demonstrated by her breathtakingly smooth performances accompanied by the renowned Finnish Jarmo Savolainen trio in Helsinki 2001 and 2005.

Manhattan Tap has been a major force in New York and internationally since its founding in 1986. The company is a collection of individual dancers, all strong soloists, who fuse into an electrifying ensemble that uniquely blends tap dance, music, choreography and improvisation.
