MANHATTAN TAP New York's leading tap ensemble

Manhattan Tap was founded in 1986, and is a major force not only in NYC but also in the international tap community. The company is a collection of individual dancers, all strong soloists, who fuse into an electrifying ensemble that uniquely blends tap dance, music, choreography and improvisation.

Since 1991 the Artistic Director Heather Cornell has been the sole choreogrhapher creating works in a style that has been dubbed "visual music" by Dance Magazine.

The company has worked with some of the greatest jazz and world musicians. A long-standing collaborative relationship between Ms. Cornell and renowned bassist Ray Brown peaked with the world premiere of The Tap Suite, a twenty-minute work with original music by Ray Brown.

Manhattan Tap has been a major force in New York and internationally since its founding. Under the direction of Ms. Cornell, with her background in modern dancing, they continue to create a new style of concert tap that has never lost the art of improvisation or the individual strengths of its members.

Manhattan Tap on yksi New Yorkin parhaista steppiryhmistä. Se perustettiin 1986 ja on New Yorkin ja koko kansainvälisen steppiyhteisön voimakas vaikuttaja. Yksilölliset, vahvat solistit muodostavat yhdessä säkenöivän esiintyjäryhmän, joka sekoittaa steppiä, musiikkia, koreografiaa ja improvisaatiota ainutlaatuisella tavalla.

Taiteellinen johtaja Heather Cornell on ollut ryhmän sielukas koreografi vuodesta 1991 luoden tanssiteoksia, joiden tyyliä Dance Magazine on kuvannut "visuaaliseksi musiikiksi".

Heather Cornellin kanssa Manhattan Tap on kiertänyt USA:ssa, Euroopassa, Kiinassa, Karibialla ja Kanadassa sekä esiintynyt televisiossa ja jopa suorissa radiolähetyksissä.

Perustamisestaan lähtien Manhattan Tap on ollut kansainvälisesti tunnustettu ja New Yorkin vahva vaikuttaja. Heather Cornellin johdolla se jatkaa uuden tyylin luomista. Ryhmän tyylissä korostuu improvisoinnin taito ja taide sekä sen yksilöllisten jäsenten vahvuus.
